This design originated in the jungle in Goa, surrounded by coconut palms, bamboo and mangrove forest. I was looking to channel the vibrancy and electricity that I felt emanating from the surroundings with its fast-growing leaves, rudely bright flowers and exposed vine roots.
In the U.K this design brought some of that electricity from Goa to the dance floors in London and was extensively used by Return to the Source, at The Rocket, Brixton Fridge and Brixton Academy, Club Alien at The Rocket; in Paris and Switzerland at warehouse parties, Boom Festival in Portugal and Rainbow 2000 in Tokyo.
I printed the same design in three different colorways, creating a kaleidoscope pattern with the most punchy of the three. The mirroring gave the design a 3D feel with its black background, from which all sorts of zoomorphic imagery emerges.
